The political attack website is something I am seeing more of these days. A symptom of increasing political polarization I wonder? I am sure there are others who have done this before, but analyzing such a site is an interesting exercise. In this case it is simple, the code very basic, everything in simple tiled images. The structure is likewise very simple, quite a bit of work was put into the images, but not much into the site structure.
The style reveals the modis operendi of the author, show everything in the most denigrating and insulting style as possible. Typical of the extremist politics that we have seen far too much of lately, a form of political discourse that does society no benefit, probably harming the process and polarizing the issue.
It was the Paypal form at the end of the site that provide the hint. The email address to credit the donations to is info@railvotenow.com. This leads to the same sort of website, an attack against the Honolulu rail project, done in exactly the same sort of style, hosted at the same service, even assembled with the same software tools. This site is associated with a name that should be familiar with those who follow Hawaiian politics, Eric Ryan.
Mr. Ryan's own business website, StudioRyan, is also hosted with Blue Host of Orem, UT. A little more poking leads to another attack website, impeachmufti.com, done in exactly the same style.
Outside interests? Not so clear now, but it appears local activists are involved. Still not sure who put it together, but there are now suspects.
Hunter Bishop followed this up later asking the same question... but I was the one who dug deep at first.
