Steam Powered Machine Shop

This is fun… An entirely steam powered machine shop that is fully operational, from the boiler to a full set of machine tools. The shop is intended to show a shop as it would have looked in the 1920’s. It would be fun to use this shop to make something, but I will use an electrically powered lathe this evening.

    1. Not sure if I have ever seen a steam powered telescope. The Great Lick Refractor was water powered, they used two tanks, one to provide pressure and another to catch the output, then used a windmill to pump the water back up hill. James Nasmyth was an English industrialist who built steam engines for a living. When he retired he built a backyard telescope that looked like it came out of a steam engine manufacturing plant. Actually, it probably did. The Nasmyth focal point is named for him.
