We have an ongoing eruption on Kilauea that is larger than anything the volcano has put forth in centuries.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the eruption we are experiencing daily earthquakes of mag three to five.  Not counting the hundreds of first and second magnitude <a href=\"https:\/\/volcanoes.usgs.gov\/observatories\/hvo\/hvo_earthquakes.html\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">earthquakes each day<\/a>.  The eruption also brings serious air quality issues, cracking highways, and more<\/p>\n<p>There is currently a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westhawaiitoday.com\/2018\/08\/01\/hawaii-news\/brush-fire-on-highway-190-shuts-down-roads\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">large brush fire burning above Waikoloa Village<\/a> and roads remain closed for a second day.  Like most village residents we spent a nervous night wondering if the high winds would allow the fire to jump the firebreaks.<\/p>\n<p>And to top it all off we now have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhc.noaa.gov\/graphics_ep5.shtml?cone#contents\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hurricane Hector<\/a> bearing on a direct course for the island.<\/p>\n<p>Just what is next?  A plague of frogs?  Oh yeah, <a href=\"https:\/\/dlnr.hawaii.gov\/hisc\/info\/invasive-species-profiles\/coqui\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">we have that too<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Can we keep our natural disasters to one-at-a-time?
