The Observatory seeks a Student Assistant to support the Computer System Administrator on a variety of computer software\/hardware oriented assignments.<\/p>\n

Looking into the optics of the Keck 2 telescope<\/figcaption><\/figure>Essential Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n
    \n
  1. Hardware and software data entry.\n
  2. Windows computer software\/hardware configuration\/troubleshooting\n
  3. Tape organizing.\n
  4. Shipping and Receiving support.\n
  5. Network Table data entry.\n
  6. Assist as primary help desk for Systems Administration group.\n
  7. Work effectively with coworkers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive, positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions; and respecting the diversity of the WMKO workforce in actions, words, and deeds.\n
  8. Maintain commitment to a high standard of safety, comply with all safety laws and WMKO safety policies\/rules, and report actual and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel to further WMKO\u2019s core value of safety.\n<\/ol>\n

    Other Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Build and test network cables.\n
    2. Organize files.\n
    3. Organize hardware and software\n
    4. Other duties as assigned such as pulling cables, cleaning up rooms and labeling items\n<\/ol>\n

      Minimum Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. High School student in good standing
        \nSkills required include:<\/p>\n
      2. Computer Skills\n
      3. Good work attitude and dependable.\n
      4. Detail oriented.\n
      5. Highly motivated.\n
      6. Ability to work part-time hours during the school year and during the summer.\n<\/ol>\n

        Physical Demands:<\/strong><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. May work for extended periods at a computer terminal\n
        2. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.\n<\/ol>\n
